Queen's Journey...
Each year the New Liskeard Fall Fair and Friends of Festivals sponsor the Harvest Queen Pageant.
The Pageant is held starting the beginning of August with Judging completed on Thursday and Friday evenings of the
Fall Fair.
A total of fifteen young women aged sixteen to twenty-two compete for the title of New Liskeard
Fall Fair Harvest Queen to represent the Temiskaming Region at the Canadian National Exhibition the following year.
The Royalty also includes 1st and 2nd Princess and Miss Congeniality. Additional titles include Miss Photogenic,Miss
Talent, Miss Fitness and Miss Scholastic.
The Contestants enjoy a get acquainted Pool Party ,3 times weekly dance rehearsals for their
opening number at the Fair,Fashion Show fittings, Radio Interviews,Photo sessions and Newspaper interviews and
Pictures.
Once Fair week arrives the contestants are kept busy with many additional activities. Monday
night is a Fitness Competition, Wednesday night is Interviews, followed by a Social with Parents and Sponsors.
Thursday the Contestants compete in a Talent Show and Friday Night is the Fashion Show, Impromptu Questions and
Crowning.
The Harvest Queen Pageant is an excellent opportunity for young women of our area to gain
self esteem, confidence, meet new friends and have fun with an amazing group of young women. The Pageant also
helps prepare them for the future as they are interviewed by a panel of five judges and the Harvest Queen
attends a three day Agriculture Convention with the ninety-five plus Contestants from across Ontario vying
for C.N.E. Ambassador
As 2010 Harvest Queen Missy Pulvermacher states “ Thank you for this incredible, empowering
experience, the life skills and friendships will always be remembered”.
